You can see Japanese castles which were
built mainly before the Nobunaga and Hideyoshi's era,
the Azuchi and Momoyama era, around later 16th century.
The casltes built in those days were located on the mountains.
So we call them "Yamajiro", meaning the mountanouis castles.We can
now see them almost just as ruins. There are few castles left in the complete
form, because they were destroyed by the Togugawa ruler's policy.The Tokugawa
administration feared that the castles could be used as battle headquarters
